This version of the ‘COPS' instrument is principally intended for post-provisional-offer-of-employment assessments of public safety job applicants where the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 ( U.S. ) applies. Where not otherwise limited in application, it may be used with all candidates. A pre-provisional-offer-of employment version of COPS (‘ADA Clean') is available to examiners and jurisdictions requiring such an instrument to narrow a large field of potential candidates. Contact IFP at the number below.
Candidate's names are entered to facilitate production of reports. Nevertheless, they are not retained in any IFP database associated with identifiable personal information. To further protect the privacy of individuals, this system uses secure servers and encryption methods to prevent any possible violation of the Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act of 2003 (HIPPA). Only the original examiner, having a key code can restore the connection between the identity of an individual test taker and his or her responses and test results. IFP and IFP Test Services, Inc. are not covered entities under HIPPA, They do not offer treatment of any kind to individuals, do not receive nor solicit insurance payments for services rendered, and do not electronically store personal information associated with identifiable persons.
IFP may use responses of code numbered examinees for statistical and research purposes. No information regarding any identifiable individual, can or will ever be used, nor can it be made available by IFP even by official request. The only source of such information will be the individual examiner (professional or agency) possessing the code. In this manner the personal information of any person responding to COPS is protected to the extent possible by current technology.
COPS test results contain biographical information based exclusively upon the subject's responses. In the event that misinformation is supplied, the print-out will reflect that misinformation. Neither IFP, IFP Test Services, Inc--- can be held responsible for the errors of the subject in responding to items. To ensure the most accurate reflection of the subject's true background, the examiner is urged to emphasize to the subject the need for care in responding to each item, and a review of responses before clicking the 'Submit' button.
Subjects should also be instructed to avoid naïve efforts to present oneself as ‘perfect' or socially desirable in every way (which would lead to. a high ‘Lie' score). A high ‘Lie' score will prevent the calculation of a success prediction for the subject as will a high inconsistency score. The latter is commonly found in persons who respond randomly, are of limited cognitive ability or, sometimes, have learning disabilities. In the event that a subject reports that he/she suffers from a learning disability, such as dyslexia, or other disability, and the A.D.A. is applicable, a reader should be provided for the subject.
The examiner (Partner) agrees to hold IFP, IFP Test Services, Inc. and their associated organizations, employees, officers and their heirs and assigns harmless and blameless for any violation of the privacy of an examinee and affirms that he/she/it controls the security of the code keys which could be potentially used to identify examinees individually.
In order to ensure the maximum value and benefit of this instrument and to prevent its being undermined by dissemination to unauthorized sources, the Partner agrees to the following:
